A bit about me....
Hi! I’m Sonya Marks and at 56 years young, yes, I’m sticking with young because....well because I can and why not!
I am a mum, a grandmother, a wife, and the fulltime Director of Keeping Everyone and Everything Functioning
If there’s a crisis....who am I kidding..... WHEN there's a crisis, a calendar clash, or a family member having a meltdown over something..... I am there. Sometimes I may, just maybe a teeny bit, mis-read the signs about whether or not my help is needed but that's another story.
So when breast cancer decided to wander into my life uninvited, it clearly didn’t check my resume. I’ve handled bigger personalities, tougher situations, and far more dramatic plot twists, so this? Well this is just another chapter, or as I call it, the "Boob Chronicles" and I fully intend to edit it with flair.
I am here to share my real time breast cancer journey with raw honesty, stubborn determination, possibly some inappropriate humour at all the right moments, and the kind of encouragement that feels like a warm hug…..with a little sass on the side. I’m not here to whisper my story, I am here to share my journey loudly, clearly, with a few laughs and occasional wink thrown in.
Because if life’s going to throw something like this at me, I’m going to meet it head‑on.....lipgloss on, shoulders back, hair done [while I still have hair and then it will be a very stylish headscarf :) and absolutely no patience for BS!
And most importantly, if even one person gets something, even one thing, out of this that resonates with them, helps them or someone else on their journey then that would be amazing.
